Casino Bonus FAQ

Q. Why do casinos offer these bonuses if they can be taken advantage of?
A. Unlike real world casinos, online casino's only way to attract customers is through offseting their risk and providing monetary bonuses. It is their way of differentiating themselves from the competition. They also use these bonuses to overcome the stigma and uncertainity attached to online gaming.

Q. What is the catch, how do the casinos not lose money on this?
A. Simply gambling is addictive...

Q. I have seen a bonus at Casino **** that is far better than anything you have listed, why is that?
A. It is probably a Sticky bonus, or a scam or has T&Cs or game restrictions designed to prevent you from clearing a large portion of the bonus. Still I would be interested to hear about it.

Q. How often is the site updated?
A. I update the bonuses lists as the casino's update me. I'm always on the look out for more casino bonuses as well. Generally though a lot of updates happen around the turn of the month when casinos update their various promotions unique and monthly promotions. There is also a lot of activity around special dates; public holidays, other celebrated days.

Q. Why do you only list game *****, I prefer ***** and have had more success?
A. I list the games that have the lowest Variance and highest Average Gain. If you had more success playing another game you have been lucky. The best game to clear bonuses is usually Blackjack, but some bonuses don't allow it. In those cases the next highest average gain game will be listed after that. Jacks or better Video Poker (Jacks or Better & All Aces). There are other games that have advantages over Blackjack when clearing bonuses but they are often not allowed (War, Craps).

Q. Why don't you list bonuses in order of what is most profitable to you?
A. The bonuses I list here are listed by value to you not value to me. I preferr to rely on the loyalty of visitors, who will hopefully reward me by using my referal links. If I refer you to a bad bonus because it pays a high affliate fee, you won't come back. If I refer you to a good bonus, you see the value and start to trust my information you are more likely to return and play through the rest of the casinos. A lot of good affiliate programs in fact offer terrible real bonuses.

Q. The casino says my country is banned, why and what can I do?
A. They have the right to not let you play, so you can't do anything. The "why" could be a number of reasons, which are listed below. Easiest to move on, there are sometimes partnered casinos in the group responsible for the restriction (Intercasino) so you could try to look for your country specific Casino.

Q. What is a Bonus Abuser and why have I been labeled one?
A. I've devoted a whole section to this entitled "Bonus Ninja" which explains how not to be a labeled a bonus abuser. This is bad news for you trying to get bonuses creditted at any other casinos in that group.

Q. I followed everything you said and 'busted' at casino ***** are they rigged?
A. All casino's listed here have their games auditted by major financial firms. There is an element of luck when it comes to how far from the variance your results is. However if you cleared an infinite amount of the same bonuses you would end up at an Average Gain per Casino of the one stated.

Q. What is Casino Meister?
A. Casino Meister is an information site similar to this one, however it focuses more on casino legitimacy and customer support issues. There is a good following of players behind Casino Meister who act as a consumer watch dog for online casinos. If a Casino is suspected of being dodgy it will pop up here. They run blacklist of casinos known to engage in deceptive behavoir.

Table terms

Most terms here are self-explainatory. But I have listed those that aren't.

Casino: Name of Casino
Bonus $: Amount of money the casino provides as a bonus
Type: The type of bonus (which is important); see the Bonus Type section.
Wager Req: Wager requirement is how much you need to wager before you either get the bonus and are then able to cash it out. The higher the wagering the more money you will lose. It is used by casino's to provide bonuses with a larger face value because they know on average you will lose most of it.
Av Gain: The average gain is the average gain you will make playing the specified lowest odds game to complete the wager requirements.
Game: The game that is listed in bold is always the game that has the lowest house edge (therefore highest average gain). If there are other close alternatives that may provide a better standard deviation or speed up playthrough they will be listed also.
Software: The makers of the gaming software, not usually the owners of the casino. This is listed in case you want to look at playing other games
Notes: These are specific points of interest here, such as if a casino is part of a larger group (which can have implications on claiming bonuses and avoiding being labelled a bonus abuser). If there are special betting constraints. Depositting requirements. Other strange Terms and Conditions.
Currency Equilivence: Casinos offer either flat rate or currency equivilence. For example Golden Palace offers a flat-rate bonus so your max bonus is 300 USD or 300 GBP. A currency equivilent bonus would give you ~600 USD or 300 GBP. So depending on the situation it is better to play in certain currencies. If it is currency equivilant try to play in your local currency if it is worth less than the GBP and therefore can lower your variance for the same Average Return. You can also dodge some currency exchange and international transaction fees at some casinos in this way. However check with support for the exchange rate they are offering and make a decision. Some casinos also won't let you cash out bonuses in Pounds or Euros unless you are a resident gain check support and T&C's.

Country Restrictions

Casino's often restrict certain countries from gambling through their sites. This can be because of your country is prone to fraud (African nations), domestic gambling legality (United States) and partner casinos already serving your country.

US Restrictions: The legality of gambling in the US varies between casinos. A lot of casino's don't support the US at all, those that do usually only support some states. My understanding is that only casinos operating in the US can allow US players to play. However this is likely to change over the coming years. I list casinos that allow US players with a US flag.

Bonus Restrictions:There are also country restrictions on bonuses for countries that are prone to bonus abuse at the casino. These countries are often required to wager an multiple of the normal wagering requirements. As always read the terms and conditions.

Bonus Type

The wager type is important to consider. Casino's that advertise bonuses that seem too good to be true often are often offering Sticky bonuses that are provided for wagering purposes. The bonuses to look out for are Upfront and Post wager which I primarily list.

Upfront you get up front, withdrawable after wagering. Some casino's even allow you to withdraw your deposit before wagering.
Post-wager you get after wagering. Often casinos will require you clear the post wager bonus through once, I classify this as Post-wager but the need to play the bonus through will be reflected in Wager Req with + xB.
Mid-wager is in between Upfront and post-wager bonuses. So you get the bonus half way through the wager requirement.
Sticky bonuses are up front are not withdrawable and for wagering only. They often disappear if you withdrawl your initial deposit as well. Also it is often stipulated that you gamble your money first. If it looks to good to be true it is often Sticky. While there is a method to making money on Sticky bonuses; called a two-tier betting system. The variance is very high as it takes full bankroll double or nothing approach followed by smaller bets.
Clearplay are released at wagering intervals. These are often designed so you are losing more than the bonus is giving you, while the interval system keeps you playing to clear the whole bonus.
Freeplay are Upfront bonuses is money given without the need for a deposit (usually have unique T&C's attached). Often it is a very small sum of money and using it excludes you from taking advantage of much better Upfront or post-wager sign up bonus. Sometimes they only allow you to keep the winnings, not the bonus itself like a sticky bonus. Obviously you should go for a fast gain or bust strategy.
Cashback bonuses are percentage bonuses based on the money you have lost. Therefore are generally not profitable but useful to minimise losses. Not the sort of play I would suggest.
